Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship

The Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship (AES) is offered to international students pursuing a master’s program at the University of Amsterdam.

  • Recipients will be eligible to receive a sum of 25,000 EUR on being selected.
  • The award will cover expenses related to the tuition and cost of living.
  • The scholarship amount shall be applicable for one full academic year.
  • Due to the limited number of scholarships awarded in each faculty, the selection will be highly competitive.
  • Deadline expired for this year, try again next year.

To retain the scholarship for the second year, the recipient must maintain satisfactory progress. The decision for renewability will be based upon the performance and involvement in the first year of study.

Criterio de elegibilidad

Applicants who want to secure the Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship must secure admission at Amsterdam University.

  • Must be a non-EU citizen
  • Must be a full-time student at the university
  • Must be graduate in the top 10% of their class in any discipline
  • Must not be supported by any other grant or loan.
  • Must provide proof of English Language Proficiency Test.
    • The university accepts test scores of IELTS, TOEFL, etc.

The minimum English language requirements for all the faculties have been summarized in the table below:

Applicants must complete an external application to be considered for the Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship provided on the official website of the University of Amsterdam.

Proceso de selección

The selection for the scholarship is based on the candidate’s ambition, career goals, and relevance of the program selected with the future choice of the candidate will be done.

The selection process for the AES is two-fold.

Stage I: Applications are collected from the pool of candidates, the most deserving ones are shortlisted by respective graduate school for the next stage.

Stege II: Recipients are then selected by the Central Selection Committee from shortlisted candidates.

The Amsterdam Excellence Scholarship is awarded to the graduate-level students who have secured admissions at the University of Amsterdam.

The scholarship is granted for one academic year covering the tuition fee and cost of living. Students must maintain good academic scores to be considered for renewal of the scholarship.

All the scholarship recipients are expected to :

  • Participate in activities with AES sponsors.
  • Join extracurricular activities and the AES alumni network.
  • form a strong international network during their period of study, which will be stimulated by an interesting tailor-made extracurricular program.

Note: AES scholarships may be terminated if the recipient unreasonably refuses to participate in such activities.
