Southampton international Merit scholarships

Southampton international Merit scholarships are provided to international students enrolling in any of the UG and PG programs offered at the University of Southampton. It is an entrance-based scholarship and doesn’t require any additional scholarship application.

The maximum value of the scholarship is 3000 GBP.
The scholarship is a non-renewable award and can be availed only once.
Eligible students must be applying for a full-time program and categorized under overseas fee payment status.
It is funded by the international partners of the university and not by the government.

Recipients of the Southampton international Merit scholarships are notified at the time of their admission to the university. Generally, it is included in their admission offer letter. In some cases, a separate email is sent to the recipients.

Criterio de elegibilidad

To be eligible for receiving Southampton international Merit scholarships, the scholarship, applicants must fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

Must meet the minimum qualification requirements of the UG and PG courses at the university.
Must be an international student liable to pay tuition fees.
Must pay the necessary tuition fee deposit by the date notified on the offer letter.
Must be received an unconditional offer to the study at University of Southampton

Southampton international Merit scholarships are not eligible for :

Students studying at the university as a period of study abroad, a student exchange or as a student visitor.
Students entering the second year or subsequent years, of a UG degree or repeating a year.
Entering a UG degree with a foundation qualification.
Students whose tuition is fully or partially funded by any other sponsored.
Students who want to pursue UG programs at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Southampton and medical courses
Not available for Postgraduate Research programs and:
- Continuing professional development programs
- Distance Learning programs
- Programs offered at a University of Southampton partner institution/campus
These scholarships are not available to students studying:
- on PGCert, PGDip, Foundation or PGR courses
- on Distance Learning courses
- with a partner institution
- at our campus in Malaysia
- on continuing professional development (CPD) courses
- only pre-sessional English - pre-sessional English students with an offer to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level can still apply

Proceso de solicitud

No external application is required to be submitted at the university, applicants will be assessed when applying for an eligible course to study at the University.

There is no specific application process for the scholarship. Candidates will be asked about the scholarship details in the offer letter itself. So, the applicant must complete an admission application online through UCAS only.

However, students must check admission requirements at the University of Southampton to ease the application process.

Applicants will be evaluated based on their admission applications. The selection for the scholarship is done on a merit basis.

Also, the equivalency of international qualification will be determined by the university as per their standards. Recipients of the scholarship will be sent written confirmation by the university itself.

Southampton international Merit scholarships are offered to international students entering in 2023 at the University of Southampton

One gets discounts of £1,000 for each grade you achieve above the standard offer for courses run by:
- Southampton Business School
- Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
- Economic, Social and Political Sciences
- Southampton Education School
- Southampton Law School
- School of Mathematical Sciences
- Physics and Astronomy
For example, if you need A, B, B in your A levels and you get A, A, A, you will get £2,000 towards your first year tuition fees.
For all other courses, you must get A* to A grades for us to award you discounts of £1,000 for each grade. This applies to:
- Biological Science
- Geography and Environmental Science
- Ocean and Earth Science
- Psychology
For example, if you get A, A, A in your A levels, you will get £3,000 towards your first year tuition fees.
The most you can get is £3,000. The scholarships apply only to the first year of your tuition fees.
