Saltire Scholarships

Saltire Scholarships are available for applicants who desire to study a full-time PG program in the areas of Science, Healthcare, Renewable & Clean Energy, and Creative Industries. These scholarships provide students with an opportunity to study in the UK at a recognized university or institute.

Applications are invited from India, Pakistan, Japan, China (including Hong Kong), Canada, and the US.
Applicable for first-time international students enrolling in a master’s degree in a Scottish university.
The probable deadline for the upcoming scholarship session might be June 12, 2023 midnight GMT.
Recipients of Saltire Scholarships will receive an amount of 8,000 GBP (7,91,933 INR) each.

The award amount for the Saltire Scholarships is paid towards any one year of the tuition fee at an eligible Scottish university. It is the decision of the student to choose whichever year they want to avail of the award amount.

The Scottish Government and the various universities have set certain guidelines for the eligibility of the Saltire Scholarships. All applicants are required to fulfill the eligibility requirements mentioned below:

The applicant must be:
- first-time applicant
- a national of India, Pakistan, Japan, China (including HongKong), Canada, or the USA
- enrolling in a postgraduate degree at a Scottish University
- enrolling in area of Science, Medical Science, Technology, Healthcare, Renewable & Clean Energy, or Creative Industries
Demonstration of available finances for the payment of remaining tuition fees and living expenses in Scotland.
Received a conditional or non-conditional offer letter from any Scottish university.
The applicants are required to provide the reasons for studying in Scotland and the proposed benefits of the course chosen by him/her.
Presentation of the leadership qualities that will enable them to use the studied course effectively for the betterment of career and community

Saltire Scholarships Terms and Conditions

The applicant must-

maintain good discipline, attitude, and aptitude towards the scholarship and the institution of study.
be willing to participate in extra co-curricular activities and the conferences or seminars organized by the scholarship program.
support and promote Scottish universities or study in the UK and Scotland as well as the Saltire Scholarship program through
- posting on social media,
- interacting with prospective students, or
- actively participating in the advertisement activities of the scholarship program.
give consent under the privacy protection laws to use his/her data for promotional activities by the scholarship authorities.

Proceso de solicitud

To apply for the Saltire Scholarships,

Applicants must complete the scholarship application online.
The application form requires three essays of 250 words each against questions that are-
1. The reasons for choosing Scotland and the particular institution and program for study.
2. Explain how Saltire Scholarships can help the candidate in the future and how the candidate can help in promoting Scotland for higher education
3. Explain the experience and skills possessed by the applicant in communication (both written and presentation) and while working with others.

In addition to the scholarship application, candidates must also secure admission to eligible Scottish universities like Glasgow Caledonian University, Abertay University, Herriott-Watt University, etc.

Proceso de selección

The selection process for the Saltire Scholarships is dependent on certain important factors. The selection is mainly dependent on:

the application of the applicant
how well the questions addressed are answered

The notification for the scholarship selection is sent by the university preferably in July. The applicants must note that the decision date varies from university to university. For example, the recipients of Saltire Scholarships at the University of St Andrews will be informed at the end of July.

It is the discretion of the authorities to call an applicant for a presentation or interview. Upon receiving the scholarship notification, applicants must make sure to accept the notification within four weeks. If not, the scholarship award will be withdrawn.

Termination of Saltire Scholarships

The Scottish Government reserves the right to abolish or terminate the Saltire Scholarships from any of the study programs, especially, if the recipients are not maintaining the required code of conduct.

Also, if the institution feels that the recipient is not actively participating in the outlined programs or is causing indiscipline or showing inappropriate behavior, the institution may recommend the elimination of the scholar from the list of Saltire Scholarship Program.

The Government of Scotland and the several universities of Scotland have a consortium to offer Saltire Scholarships to students who wish to study full-time on-campus master’s degree in Science, Medical Science, Technology, Healthcare, Renewable & Clean Energy, and Creative Industries.

The students who are nationals of India, Pakistan, Japan, China (including Hong Kong), Canada, and the USA are the only ones eligible to seek these scholarships. There are 50 scholarships of 8,000 GBP each which are to be used for the payment of one-year tuition fees.

The candidates demonstrating their ability to become a brand ambassador for the Saltire Scholarships and study in Scotland having excellent communication and presentation skills are more likely to be successful in getting these scholarships.

Saltire Scholarships are not renewable and are given only once in the complete on-campus PG study at a Scotland university. These scholarships are normally able to cover the partial tuition fees while the rest of the fees need to be paid by the scholars.
