Industry Exposure

PS
7.8 /10

After having my honors in Psychology, I applied for university, but the competition for a masters degree is a lot. Along with the fees someone has to pay as an International student. I went with this program after fully understanding what I can expect from it. The opportunities it gives me to network with the experts in the field are a lot. In my first semester, I met more than 10 industry experts. The exposure you will get and help from the instructors makes you feel that the money you invest in the program is worth everything. Canada being a safe country made my parents get a sense of relief.

Course Curriculum :

Industrial exposure matters in the field I am enrolled in, and I am getting it constantly. Each week I am meeting people from different employment organizations. Due to the pandemic, there is a change in the Canadian Labor market as well. This is what makes it fascinating since I am learning the Canadian history and the present policies. The course curriculum is updated and promises you to have a skill set that an individual can use at the end of this program, even before since there is a co-op included.

Exams :

My score: IELTS 7.5; Class Minimum Score: IELTS 6, minimum 5.5 in each band. Validity of 2 years.

Placement :

The starting salary in the Career Development profession is $44,000 for a beginner. The third semester gives an individual exposure in the field, which is beneficial for future job opportunities. 95% of students get placement after finishing the program. The four companies visited in the first semester were ACCES, Achev, Youth Employment Services, ODSP, guests from other organizations and colleges. I got the chance to talk to CDPs at the Humber College.

Internship :

The co-op is included in the program, and I am in my first semester right now so I don't have the information on the stipend. But it starts in May and ends in August.

Fees :

$25,266

Scholarship :

In colleges, you fill the form for scholarships in the first semester and by the end you can get the results. Some scholarships are based on your academics, but a few focus on your background.

Faculty :

It depends on the subject an individual takes in the semester. In one of the courses, it is 1:30, which is acceptable since that subject includes guest speakers. The other one has 1:17 since we need to be in groups to practice our interview skills. One of the instructors, Ms. Gillian Johnston, helped me grow confident about my counselling skills each week as we progressed.

Campus Life :

I am part of SLA, a student association as a volunteer. The association helps others connect with each other. They arrange programs and online events where students can talk and win amazing prizes around any festivity.

Hostel :

I am living with my friend in sharing at Brampton. The college provides accommodation as well. For that, a student needs to connect with one of the officer and talk about their needs.
